Understanding and using the phonemic chart

The 'Understanding and using the phonemic chart' course is aimed for teachers of English who want to better understand phonemic symbols and how to put them into use in their lessons. The course will help you use phonemic symbols confidently to help students 'see' -- and not only hear -- pronunciation. Not only will you understand the symbols, you'll also learn effective ways to clarify individual sounds, stress, and connected speech using them.

This course will be useful for you if you teach English as a foreign or second language and you think a visual representation of the English sounds can be helpful when clarifying pronunciation to learners. It will also be useful if you're currently doing or considering doing the Cambridge CELTA course, since being able to use phonemic symbols will be important in your classes, lesson plans, and also in your written assignments.
